Nicholas S. Whitelaw received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, during which time he took a co-op assignment in 1987 at Allied Automotive, Bendix Friction Materials Division. Mr. Whitelaw became a Patent Examiner in the United States Patent Office in 1988 and remained in that position until taking a law clerk position at a Washington, D.C. area law firm in 1992. Mr. Whitelaw joined The Law Office of Everett G. Diederiks, Jr., now Diederiks & Whitelaw, PLC, in 1996 where he has established himself as an important source of technical and legal expertise, while concentrating on conducting patentability, infringement and validity searches and preparing U.S. based patent applications, prosecuting U.S. and foreign applications in various technical fields, and performing litigation support before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and various Federal Courts.
